E. Wayne Turnblom

Education: Ph.D., Organic Chemistry; Executive Program Graduate (MBA Equivalent)

After graduating with his doctorate from Columbia, Dr. Wayne Turnblom was an Instructor and Post-Doctoral Fellow at Princeton University for two years. Dr. Turnblom is a member of Foresight’s Board of Directors and currently serves as Chair, Investments Committee, Board of Directors.  He has diversified technical and business management experience, both domestically and internationally, in R&D management, new product development and commercialization, new business development, strategic alliance formation, business strategy development, new business start-ups, marketing and business planning and environmental affairs management.  Dr. Turnblom conducts numerous technology and market assessments and special projects in the life sciences as well as in the chemical, environmental, energy and other high technology industries.

Before joining Foresight, Dr. Turnblom had a distinguished career at Eastman Kodak, where he advanced from Research Laboratory Head, Electrophotography Division to Director, Marketing and Business Planning, Bio-products Division to Director, Business Development, Laboratory and Research products to Manager, Business and Technology Development, Graphics Imaging Systems Division and finally Director, Environmental Affairs, Kodak Professional Division. He was instrumental in the formation of Kodak’s biotechnology business which ultimately became Genencor International.  Dr. Turnblom was a member of the Board of Directors of the former Commercial Development and Marketing Association, where he last held the Office of Secretary. He also served on the Advisory Board of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at WPI, and has served as an Advisor to Tech Ventures, an upstate New York venture capital firm. Dr. Turnblom is a member of the American Chemical Society and a former member of the Product Development and Management Association.  He currently serves on a Dean’s Advisory Board at Boston University and is a Supervisor, Community Development District 6 in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

Diane Stewart

Dr. Diane Stewart supports her clients with technology transfer services including external research funding analysis and administration, writing and version control of legal documents for collaborations, and strategic intellectual property management.   Her experience has been in charged particle science and equipment development for nanotechnology, semiconductors, microscopy and chemical deposition processes.  Earlier in her career, Diane has had considerable success in business development, specifically negotiating over $75M in government and corporate research funding for both startup companies as well as multinational corporations. She also managed multiple research and engineering teams in complex projects.

Diane holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Brown University in Physical Chemistry, and a Bachelor of Art’s degree in Chemistry from Middlebury College.  She completed a two-year Intellectual Property Law Certificate program from Suffolk University Law. She has authored numerous papers, been awarded patents, and given talks at international conferences on multiple technological innovations.

Diane is a member of several professional organizations, including the North Shore Technology Council and VentureFizz.  She was a reviewer for the American Vacuum Society (AVS) publications for 10 years. Diane writes numerous grants for nonprofit organizations including marine mammal conservation, local open space development, and innovative medical venture groups.

Spencer Hamilton

Spencer’s expertise includes valuation, business strategy, operations efficiency, market research and new product development. He has advised or invested in companies with technologies ranging from mobile devices, clean tech, healthcare IT, and medical devices. Spencer’s prior work experience includes clinical settings, investment funds, and Corporate America. He holds a BA and MBA degrees from the University of Southern California and Johns Hopkins University, respectively. In addition, he has lectured on entrepreneurship, innovation, and R&D funding at forums and colleges in US and abroad.

Chetan Uttarwar

Mr. Chetan Uttarwar has extensive experience in Intellectual Property, Technology & Business research with focus on technology scouting, licensing, competitive intelligence, transfer and monetization. He has participated in activities like business discovery, intermediation, acquisitions, IP contract terms & negotiations for various projects.

An alumnus of prestigious Seoul National University, South Korea and Luiss Business School, Rome (Italy), Mr. Uttarwar began his career as a technology expert with CSIR-INDIA further enriching it with his engagement at Intellectual Discovery Co. Ltd Seoul Korea. To name a few, He has hands on exposure to advance stage tech related to vector construction, RNA interference and other Gene editing techniques. Mr. Uttarwar has been honored with fellowships from World Intellectual Property Organization, Geneva (Switzerland) and Italian Patent and Trademark Office. His opinions have been published in Technology Law Journals, and has filed patent in Korea on IP commercialization platform.

Vasumati (“Vasu”) Pestonjamasp

Dr. Vasumati (“Vasu”) Pestonjamasp’s expertise includes assessment of commercialization potential of technologies spanning a broad range of areas; competitive business analysis, market research and market penetration strategies, intellectual property assessment, strategic and tactical planning, and support of licensing and partnering. Vasu’s scientific experience includes 3M Corporation award for her work at the Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School; Boston, MA and the University of California San Diego (UCSD). During this time, she investigated antimicrobial biomarker gene and peptide structure, expression, and their regulation of infection and wound healing. Vasu also performed scientific research at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center; Worcester, MA, during which she discovered and characterized a biomarker that regulates cellular responses in inflammation and infection. In addition to numerous awards, Vasu has over 15 scientific papers and conference abstracts published in peer-reviewed journals. Vasu received Ph.D. from Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Mumbai, India. She obtained MBA degree from Marshall School of Business (with focus on entrepreneurship, finance and international business); University of Southern California (USC); Los Angeles, CA. She holds a Masters (Microbiology; with High Honors) degree from the M. S. University, Baroda; India. Vasu has been actively involved with the Licensing Executives Society (LES) USA & Canada. She currently serves as Chair, LES Education (San Diego, CA); after having been the elected Chair, San Diego Chapter. Vasu chaired the Deal of Distinction Award committee (LES Industry-University-Government Interface (IUGI) Sector) in 2012 and continues to serve on IUGI’s national-level leadership team.
